Closed to new replies Posted: January 24, Link. Replies: Please help! I have a two-year-old Manhattan brand WP pen tablet. I had problems with it and tried reinstalling the drivers when I got Photoshop CS4. Well, the tablet is now working, but it is still having serious issues within Photoshop. I searched around thousands of help sites and followed numerous helpful hints including: -Plugging the tablet into the USB on the back of my computer This temporarily solved my problem of straight lines when I was drawing a curved line, but the problem came back.

If I change any of the settings and change it back to pen pressure, it still makes unbelievably miniscule marks. I originally thought that no marks were being made at all, until I zoomed in and tested it.

If I switch the Control to off, I have the problem that no matter how long, loopy and curvy I attempt to make my line, it simply makes a straight line from the point where I started my line to the point where I ended it.

If I restart, the whole process starts over with the one single pressure sensitive line and the phooey to follow. Something I just found out: The above was all done using a size 3 brush. After everything is screwy, if I change the brush size to, say, 15px, and press very hard with my pen, a once again straight stroke so small you can hardly see it is made. Pressing very hard with the pen and swiping it quickly across the tablet produces straight lines of varying widths.

I guess it is still pressure sensitive, but what is with the eternally straight lines? If I change the settings to Pen Pressure under Shape Dynamics-Size Jitter-Control , click the little lock icon beside the Shape Dynamics option, close Photoshop and reopen it, open a new file and select a brush and draw a line, it works exactly how it should, for a time. The weirdest thing about my problem is that the results are random every time. I tried this again and was able to make maybe fifty marks before everything went straight.

I once again tried switching to a larger brush 32px and all the lines were once again perfectly straight, and seemed to be responding in some way to the pressure sensitivity, but it was utterly random. Like, I would press really hard in a straight line and it would taper from a small tip to a large end.

Then I tried swirling the pen around while still pressing hard on the pen I would get maybe a 1px wide straight line with no varying widths. I tried doing the same exact motions on the tablet with my pen and would get differing lines every time. Does my Photoshop have a bug? Could it perhaps be a bug not yet worked out of the new CS4 program? Or is it my tablet not being compatible? I have the driver that came on the installation disc with my tablet installed currently. What the heck is the matter?

My last resort will be investing in a Wacom. Devious Comments Load All Images. Guys I might be late with my solution, no need to install drivers or anything, just minimize and maximize the program and the problem will go. Rubygem14 Featured By Owner Feb 14, I have the same problem expect my tablet is a Hanvon would the suggestion made for the genius tablet be the same thing I should do if I have a Hanvon tablet.

I found this via google while searching for an updated driver, which I found somewhere ages ago, but a newer driver than 9. I'm finding that the tablet and windows Vista, don't get along. No matter what fix you apply to it, the best short term fix is to keep reinstalling the most up to date driver and it fixes the problem for a month or so. I'm running CS5 and it has issues functioning more than an hour on it, so painting is slow. I'm going to go out on a limb and say invest in a Wacom.

I have a solution! God this issue made me pull hairs for ages. Whenever you use your mouse you tablet loses control. Photoshop won't let tablets with older drivers regain control due to some silly bug on their part. In order to fix the issue you need to open up another app, such as paint, and scribble in there for a bit. Then go back to PS and it should be fine. If you're on a laptop I suggest locking the mouse pad while using the tablet. Desktop users may want to pull the plug on their mice.

Not promising this works for everyone, but it fixed it for me. Esslora Featured By Owner Apr 13, I'm having the same problem. I recently bought a Manhattan TM tablet and it works fine except after a while on photoshop it starts screwing up. It only does dots or straight lines, which is extremely frustrating. I tried everything that you guys have mentioned but it doesn't work.

I have found that when I go to file and press "device central" a thingo comes up with "Error2 hotoshop11 is undefined. Line 1. I had the same problem when I did not use my tablet for a month. I changed the settings and it worked again. The brush presets thingy pops up. Then I changed the size jitter to pen pressure. Angle jitter to pen pressure and Roundness jitter to off. I kept having some problems with it, after I first installed CS4. But after I reinstalled Vista lately, it got worse.

After a couple of minutes in CS4, I started loosing pen pressure and had to restart the system to get it back.

I tried so many drivers, the tablet stopped working altogether the cursor kept to the left edge of the screen and wouldn't move. Frustrated, I decided to start from scratch and found my original installation CD. Installed the drivers found there and, voila! Driver's version is 5. Adding to RonaldoSales post earlier, when I tried to uninstall old drivers, they weren't physically removed from the system and I didn't delete them manually, so after reinstall I ended up with same error and driver version.

But seems like I found somewhat easier solution which worked for me. Those files are PTSimBus. This helped, new driver was successfully installed and issue looks solved now. Please keep in mind although, that when new driver issued in future, it might have version and timestamp lower than that we might put into. Hi, Saw this thread from google, I had the same problem, pen stops responding and leaves dot's and short light straight lines on the page after some lag time, sometimes it recovers doing random stuff, like changing app windows, minnimizing and restoring etc..

I found the drivers from [link] that deals with the issue and installed it originally. It didn't work but upon seeing this thread I realised I didn't do it properly, Uninstall, reboot, Delete driver directory on your hard disk If you had one, this will ensure that you don't install those again , extract the new ones, and run the app install. The problem has dissapeared without a trace. As far as general lag goes, you may wish to update your photoshop to make sure you are on the latest version.

Currently The tablet you use won't make anny diffs on this. From what I can tell, it means the position of the pen isn't updating enough. Older, cheaper tablets don't 'update' the pen position os frequently as new, flashy ones and the result is that you get lines from Point A to B to C instead of a curve. If you move the pen slower, do you get a smoother result, even if it just consists of more, shorter straight lines?

To fix problems with photoshop cs4 and problems some might have with pressure in Painter X you need to first uninstall your actual drivers doing this: 1 - Plug your tablet 2 - Right click "my computer" in start menu or in the desktop, if you have enabled so and choose "properties" 3 - Click on the "hardware" tab and then click "device manager" gerenciador de dispositivos - ptbr 4 - Click in the plus sign to show devices in Human Interface Devices Dispositivos de interface humana - ptbr 5 - Double click the "PenTablet Device" may have an exclamation sign next to it, if so, the step above would be unneeded 6 - Click on the "driver" tab and click on the last button "unninstall" 7- Click "ok" on the screen that opens 8 - Go to start menu, choose your tablet reseller and click unninstall 9 - Follow all unninstall burocratic procedures to the end.

This solves the problem and it's fail-proof, but not fool-proof. If this didn't work for your problem with photoshop CS4 drawing lines when it should be doing other things, then you probably didn't unninstall completely your old driver. Remember, this is a problem with CS4 and the way windows manage and identifies tablets, not with the tablet or it's drivers. UC-Logic tablets work perfectly or almost with all software. Good luck to you all. Wow, thanks!

In the 32 bit mode the straight line problem kept happening, but on 64 bit where before I couldn't even make pressure function it works perfectly!

RonaldoSales, Thank you so much! Reinstalling the updated drivers seems to have solved my problem! I am indebted to you! Your solution worked perfectly. I went to the following site for the Genius Tablet: [link] and downloaded Driver Driver 5. Great Advice. One friend of mine tried with UC-Logic driver and it didn't work, he tried with Genius driver and it worked. I checked them now and drivers are different Genius claim it's drivers are newer than UC-Logic ones.

Been struggling with this for a while.
